Building on Strength: Evolving Sublatus for the Future

Over the past 18 months, one of the key themes we’ve heard from both staff and partners is that we could improve on how we communicate. We’ve taken that feedback seriously. Internally, we’ve introduced quarterly town halls to keep our team up to date on corporate developments and the initiatives our leadership group is driving. Externally, we’ve invested in new ways of telling our story to the industry—including the launch of this new website.

The website is more than just a refreshed look; it’s a platform to share who we are, what we’re working on, and where we’re headed. And there has been a lot of change at Sublatus worth sharing.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Sublatus has long been recognized in the industry for its ability to deliver complex demolition and remediation projects at scale. Our crews have built a reputation for safe, efficient execution in the field, and that foundation remains the bedrock of who we are.

That foundation was strengthened significantly beginning in 2018, when Sublatus commenced a large-scale remediation program in partnership with a trusted environmental consulting firm. It was a defining project for our company, shaping how we grew and building many of the foundational strengths we rely on today—from scaling internal systems, to managing complex multi-year scopes, to deepening our understanding of effective collaboration.

The program concluded in 2024, marking the end of an important chapter. While it was highly significant in scale and influence, the lessons we took from it have positioned us to grow with even greater resilience and independence today. Over the last 18 months, we’ve built on that foundation by developing internal systems that allow us to take on larger volumes of work, expand into new regions, and diversify into additional service lines.

Diversification in Services and Markets

Since 2024, Sublatus has strategically diversified both what we do and where we do it. This deliberate growth has allowed us to strengthen our business while creating new opportunities for our people and partners.

  • Expanding Service Lines
    • Environmental Construction: We’ve added landfill construction and decommissioning to our capabilities, providing stability against the cyclical nature of asset retirement work.
    • Prime Contractor Role: We have established a new service line by taking on large-scale programs as the Prime Contractor. In Alberta, this has meant delivering complex scopes where a contractor is best suited to manage safety and efficiency in execution, before returning the program to consultants for assessment and reporting.
      • Key Project Highlights: Sublatus is currently executing an ongoing multi-year program in Alberta with annual spends approaching $20 million. On this project, no Sublatus equipment is on site—our value lies in oversight, systems, and leadership. We are supervising four First Nation–owned contractors to deliver a significant volume of work safely and efficiently, while also supporting training and capacity-building initiatives to create lasting benefits for our Indigenous partners.
  • Growing Regional Footprint
    • Expanded operations into Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Yukon, building on our Alberta foundation.
    • These regions give us access to new project types and client relationships, while leveraging our proven expertise.
  • Entering New Sectors
    • Mining: Our first large-scale mine demolition in the Yukon.
    • Municipal and Industrial Waste: Multiple landfill projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Guided by Experience

What defines Sublatus today is not just our internal expertise but our openness to collaboration. We believe the best solutions in environmental contracting come when companies across the industry—consultants, service providers, contractors, and clients—work closely together toward a shared outcome.

We are committed to pursuing and strengthening these partnerships, building on the understanding that collaboration is not only more effective but also leads to safer, more innovative, and more efficient projects. This openness has allowed us to form stronger relationships and create lasting value for clients, partners, and communities alike.

More Than Growth

The Sublatus we are building is not just about the bottom line or growth above all else. Our focus is on building a company where people want to work long term, where they feel valued, and where opportunities to grow and contribute are real. That mentality is driven from ownership through every level of the company, shaping how we approach projects, partnerships, and people.

Looking Ahead

The last 18 months have been transformative, but in many ways, we’re just getting started. By combining the strength of Sublatus’ proven field execution with new systems, service lines, and partnerships, we are positioning ourselves for sustained growth across Canada.

Most importantly, we’re doing it the right way—through collaboration, quality, respect for people, and a culture that makes Sublatus a place worth being part of.
