Scope of Work

Scope of Work

Sublatus was contracted to complete the construction of Cell 7 for the Town of Three Hills landfill expansion. The scope included soil stripping and stockpiling, subgrade preparation, and the installation of a multi-layer seepage barrier system consisting of a 600 mm thick clay liner, 60 mil HDPE geomembrane, and sand protection layer. The project also included the installation of a leachate collection system, perimeter berms, and stormwater management infrastructure such as ponds, ditches, and erosion control measures.

Our Approach

Our Approach

Sublatus implemented a detailed sequencing plan to ensure quality control, regulatory compliance, and safe site management throughout construction. Dedicated crews coordinated material sourcing, on-site testing, and compaction verification for all clay and geomembrane layers. Equipment traffic was managed to minimize liner disturbance, while GPS-guided grading ensured accurate elevations and slopes. Continuous environmental monitoring and adherence to local waste management standards were maintained to meet design and performance requirements.

The Results

The Results

The project, valued at $1.6 million, achieved substantial completion on schedule and within budget. The new landfill cell integrates seamlessly into the existing facility, expanding capacity and improving containment reliability. Over 23,000 m³ of compacted clay liner, 11,000 m³ of HDPE liner, and 10,000 m³ of topsoil were placed with precision. The completed system provides long-term leachate containment, effective stormwater management, and a robust foundation for sustainable landfill operations.
